Dr. D. Michelle Cochran-Sherrod
First Lady, Dr. D. Michelle Cochran-Sherrod is a native of Americus, GA. She had completed her Doctorate Degree in Educational Psychology, a Master Degree in Postsecondary Education in Instructional Technology and a Bachelor Degree in Psychology. She is married to Presiding Elder Frederick D. Sherrod, III. They have eleven children, a great nephew and a guardian son. In her professional career, she is employed as a Retention and Career Advisor for South Georgia Technical College, Americus, GA.
Dr. Sherrod has served in many capacities in the African Methodist Episcopal Church. She was a Steward, Christian Education Director, Women Missionary Society President, Debutante & Master Commissioner (Eastern District, 6th District (GA), and Debutante and Master Commissioner (Dothan-Eufaula District and South Birmingham, Huntville-Bessemer District, 9th District (AL).
Dr. Sherrod's belief is that if God is glorified, His people will be edified; therefore she continues to accept the challenge of speaking out for God wherever He leads her, knowing that if He orders her steps, she will always end up on the right path.
She is truly a humble and faithful witness for Christ. She has a genuine concern for God's people and demonstrates it through her walk. Over the past years, she has devoted herself to ministry with her husband by teaching others to have faith and to stand on God's word.
Dr. Sherrod is very active in her community. She currently serves on the Historic Campbell Chapel Restoration Committee as Assistant Secretary. Dr. Sherrod had the pleasure to serve on the Americus-Sumter Recreational Authority as a Board Member and Secretary; selected as City Councilperson for the month by the Americus City Council; President of the Boys and Girls Club of Americus Parents Council, and a member of Rho Sigma Omega Chapter of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc., Americus, GA
